Katie’s Story
‘Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light, and momentary troubles, are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.’ II Corinthians 4:16-18

We are most fortunate at Aegis Faith Films to be able to bring this amazing story of love, faith and inspiration to all.
Katie Kirkpatrick lived a life of unquestionable faith in God and belief in Jesus Christ as her Lord. That spirit was evident in everything she did and how she chose to live her life – right until the end. She is a role model for all and her story is as compelling as it is tragic.
Worldwide people of all cultures, nationalities and faiths have viewed numerous YouTube© videos about Katie as she struggled with the ravages of cancer – a disease that took her from her loved ones far too soon.
These same people have been touched by her beauty, her serene smile - even in the face of physical disaster - yet inspired by her positive attitude and overwhelming sense of peace and constant love for those in her life as well as for her Christian faith.
However, “Katie’s Story” is much more than her untimely death. It is how she led her life, by example, rather than the manner in which she died.
Hers is an inspirational and triumphant story of unwavering faith in her Lord and Savior, of her love for her family and her high school sweetheart – and future husband - Nick.
Many of you have seen the short clips of her struggle just to make it to her wedding day – certainly one of the happiest days of her life. Yet there is so much more to this wonderful girl – and that is what we will show with “Katie’s Story”.
Katie’s life exemplifies everything good in all of us and her faith in dealing with her impending death will strengthen your own.
Katie’s goal was to make others feel good, to bring them comfort and to feel her warmth. Although suffering greatly she never complained and always maintained a positive and nurturing attitude even during her most harrowing moments of chemotherapy – as the cancer spread throughout her tiny frame.
We look forward to coming to your community and sharing this wonderful film with you and your neighbors when completed. We ask for your prayers and support in bringing this film to the screen.
We also look forward to hearing from you and thank you for your interest and participation in this wonderful project – and our future vision in bringing quality faith-based films to the worldwide Christian community.

The Joyous Life and Triumph of the Spirit Finding Peace and Purpose in a Troubled World
The Joyous Life and Wedding of Katie Kirkpatrick
 Katie Kirkpatrick
Katie Kirkpatrick’s story is a powerful reminder that we can still find joy in the midst of suffering tragedy by focusing on and celebrating the present moment. The photos and text come from an e-mail I received and from snopes.com, which verified Katie’s story. On Valentine’s Day, 2002, Katie Kirkpatrick, then a freshman at Rochester College (a small Christian college in Rochester Hills, Michigan), was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor. Undaunted, Katie strove to keep up with her studies, but she suffered another setback in 2003 when she was diagnosed with an inoperable lung tumor wrapped around her pulmonary artery. Nonetheless, in 2004 the resilient Katie took part in champion cyclist Lance Armstrong’sRide for the Roses cancer fundraiser.
On January 15, 2005, twenty-one-year-old Katie—the girl “with a contagious smile and unrelenting optimism” who had been battling cancer for three years—married twenty-three-year-old Lapeer County sheriff’s deputy Nick Goodwin, her high school sweetheart and the love of her life, at Church of Christ in Hazel Park, Michigan.
Photos were taken by Romain Blanquart.
Katie Kirkpatrick and her fiance, Nick, rest prior to their wedding. Katie has terminal cancer and spends hours in chemotherapy. Here Nick waits while she finishes one of the sessions.
Even in pain and dealing with her organs shutting down, with the help of morphine, Katie took care of every single wedding plan. Her dress had to be adjusted several times due to her constant weight loss.
An expected guest was her oxygen tank. Katie had to use it during the ceremony and reception. Katie’s parents look on.

In the middle of the party Katie had to rest for a bit and catch her breath. The pain doesn’t allow her to stand for long periods of time.
Katie passed away just five days after her wedding at the McLaren Regional Medical Center in Flint, Michigan
Nick said of the wedding and Katie’s passing:
It was wonderful. It was a dream come true. She was the most beautiful angel ever—just caring and selfless, and such an inspiration to everyone. She was always smiling no matter what happened, no matter what news she got. She was as close to perfect as they come.

People are often unreasonable, illogical, and self-centered; Forgive them anyway. If you are kind, people may accuse you of ulterior motives; Be kind anyway. If you are successful, you will win some false friends and some true enemies; Succeed anyway. If you are honest and frank, people may cheat you; Be honest and frank anyway. What you spend years building, someone could destroy overnight; Build anyway. If you find serenity and happiness; they may be jealous; Be happy anyway. The good you do today, people will often forget tomorrow; Do good anyway. Give the world the best you have and it may never be enough; Give the world best you’ve got anyway. You see, in the final analysis it is between you and God; It was never between you and them anyway! -
